A laptop without a numeric keypad is like a car without brakes. It might work fine most of the time, but when you really need it, you’re going to be in trouble.
So don’t let yourself be held back by a laptop that doesn’t have a numeric keypad. If you do a lot of number-based work such as data entry or if you just find yourself regularly typing in passwords and account numbers, then you need a laptop with a numeric keypad.
However, If you’re in the market for a new laptop you may be wondering if there are any models that come with one built-in. Unfortunately, not many laptops have numeric keypads anymore, but there are still a few options available if you’re willing to look.
Here’s a list of the best laptops with numeric keypads currently available, make sure you take a thorough look.
The lovely part? Our list of categories suits almost everyone, I mean we have got something for everyone, from business professionals to students to gamers.
So let us take a dive!!
1. Lenovo IdeaPad 3
My personal favorite and first on the list is the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14 Laptop which is awesome for a wide array of reasons.
Well, you may ask how?
First of all, when I popped this gorgeous and lightweight device out of the box, I was immediately struck by its sleek and professional design.
I was even amazed that under the hood it even has a powerful AMD Ryzen 5 5500U Mobile Processor that definitely makes work or gaming life easier.
Another thing I really loved about it was the 8GB DDR4 RAM which left me with zero lag time when I was multitasking between different windows.
Since I usually find myself working on various office-related projects, I found the built-in 14.0 FHD Display perfect for viewing multiple documents side by side and not having to scroll constantly.
Not to forget that the bezels are so thin that they take up minimal space while I work and look great aesthetically.
On the topic of storage, I was very pleased with the 256GB solid-state drive that leaves plenty of room for photos, music, and videos, I mean it’s not like I am working all the time, I have to relax sometimes too!
But what really sealed the deal for me was the AMD Radeon 7 Graphics that come with this device, considering at this price point you usually don’t see that kind of graphics card.
Because I was able to play all my low-end indie games on almost high graphics and it looked beautiful, with no lagging or blurring.
Moreover, to keep things cool and frosty, the IdeaPad 3 comes with some amazing thermals and airflow enhancements which is something I definitely need because I live in a really hot climate.
Finally, the most important reason why I bought this laptop in the first place is due to its super comfortable keyboard with decent spacing in between.
On top of all that, there are other features that make this laptop my new favorite such as the backlit keyboard for working in darker areas, the fingerprint scanner for an extra layer of security, and even a privacy camera shutter to protect me from any prying eyes.
The icing on the cake, however, is that this laptop comes with a built-in numeric keypad which is perfect for data entry or just typing in passwords!
The battery life is also pretty amazing, lasting up to 10 hours so I can keep gaming or working all day without having to worry about charging it which is pretty nice.
As for connectivity all, it has the ports you would need such as 2x USB 3.1 Gen 1, 1x USB 2.0, 1x HDMI, and a headphone/mic combo jack.
Overall, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 is a great device for people who are looking for a powerful laptop with a numeric keypad that doesn’t sacrifice style or comfort.
2. Acer Nitro 5
Getting down to business, the Acer Nitro 5 is a great choice for a laptop with even a beautiful keyboard layout.
It is truly a jaw-dropping experience if you take a look at the machine itself, taking a look at 15.6-inch full-HD 144hz display that will let you see the game worlds in great detail as if you’re right there.
Moreover, the 16:9 aspect ratio will make sure that you won’t have to deal with odd black borders ensuring more space while you work or surf the internet for casual purposes.
Not to forget, the hardware specifications comprise a 10th Gen Intel Core i5-10300H Processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB NVMe SSD that will let you store all of your games without any problems whatsoever.
It even has Nvidia 30 series GeForce RTX graphics card with 4GB GDDR6 VRAM, which is not only robust but will also let you enjoy DirectX 12 games as they were meant to be played.
But that’s not it, the Acer Nitro 5 is one of the most silent gaming laptops with a noise level of only 26dB while idle, marvelous!
Acer has even put in CoolBoost technology that will increase fan speed by 10% and CPU, GPU cooling by 9% when the laptop is under load, so I am sure my buddies living in extreme climates would appreciate this feature.
As for my keyboard experience really, I liked the feel of it and found that the backlight was a nice touch, however, it only had the color red and couldn’t be changed.
But that didn’t bother me one bit since I was more interested in the layout, especially the dedicated keypad that is pretty handy for me for all sorts of work I perform in my daily life.
Moreover, the surface around the keyboard has a nice texture to it that isn’t too rough but also doesn’t feel like it’s going to wear off any time soon. The key placement is also very comfortable and doesn’t feel congested.
In terms of ports, you’ll find all of the necessary ones including USB 3.1 Type-C, HDMI, and a headphone jack, if you are fond of wireless connectivity there’s even an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 that will make sure you have a great experience.
It doesn’t stop there though as this laptop is also equipped with a biometric fingerprint reader that will keep all of your data secure, adding an extra layer of security to your device.
Overall, the Acer Nitro 5 is a great laptop for gamers and even people who are looking for general use, it has amazing specifications, a beautiful display, and a great keyboard.

4. Lenovo IdeaPad 3
The fourth pick on the list is the Lenovo Ideapad 3 which is a gaming laptop that falls in the category of best laptops with a numeric keypad.
While reviewing this bad boy for the first time, I was very excited to find that the keyboard had a white backlight – something that is not commonly found on laptops in this price range.
I always wanted to purchase a Lenovo laptop but never got the chance because of the weird placement of the numeric keypad. I am glad that this laptop has a numeric keypad on the right side so I can now comfortably use it.
The best part is that this laptop also comes with a free 3-month trial of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This means that you can play over 100 high-quality PC games on Windows PC, including some of my all-time favorite Bethesda games.
And obviously, to run all these games the manufacturer decided to put an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 inside which will give you that extra edge in your gameplay.

The only downside that I could find is that the Ideapad 3 does not have a Thunderbolt 3 port which is slowly becoming a standard on many laptops.
But hey, that’s not enough to stop me from giving this laptop a 4.5 out of 5 stars for being the best laptop with a numeric keypad.
Because the battery life makes up for that as it delivers up to 8 hours of usage on a single charge.
